CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy)

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is a talking therapy that can help us to manage our problems by changing the way we think and behave.

It is commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can also be useful for other psychological and physical health problems.

It is focused on the present, is time limited and is problem solving focused. Within this framework we can learn specific skills that can be used throughout our lives. This involves identifying and altering negative thought patterns and belief systems. By changing our thought processes we can achieve behaviour change.

It is based on the belief that how we see the world influences how we feel emotionally. Its our thoughts about situations, not the actual situations, that affect how we feel.

By being focused on problem solving and behaviour change, it can be successful as a time limited and structured intervention that helps us deal with our problems quickly and efficiently.
